Why

In middle-income neighborhoods the ratio of books per child is 13 to 1; in low-income neighborhoods the ratio is a staggering 1 (age appropriate) book for every 300 children.

What

We host book collection drives and sometimes combine that with a free baseball pitching/fielding/catching clinic. The books are donated to local elementary schools and used to fill Little Free Library book boxes in the Glen Allen area.
We are currently building a Little Free Library to be installed at Jack Bourne Park.

Wherever possible, we try to get professional coaches to run our clinics.
Some coaches who have volunteered their time for our clinics are

  • former MLB pitching coach Guy “Rock” Hansen
  • former MLB infielder Scott Sizemore
  • Richmond Flying Squirrels catching coach Zliezer Zambrano
  • Randolph Macon College coach ML Morgan

Where

We installed our first library box at Jack Bourne Park on May 29th, 2019.

How to Help

Please contact us to volunteer.  We need volunteers to help during our 2 hour clinic events.  Volunteers will collect books, donations, run concessions, and help on the field.

We will also accept donations.  Donations will be used to provide books for those in need.

Donations can be given in the form of check or credit card at the event.
